Awareness Campaign Launched to Boost Public Engagement in Road Asset Protection
A street-level public awareness campaign is currently underway across various areas in Woreda 4 and Woreda 6 of Gullele Sub-City to protect road infrastructure from damage.
Mrs. Alem Getachew, Team Leader of the Road Asset Control Team under the North Road Network Administration of the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority, stated that an awareness drive was conducted around the Qechene area in Gullele Sub-City to minimize damage to city road assets.
In collaboration with the Code Enforcement Authority, surprise inspections were carried out on approximately 98 manhole covers. During the operation, 21 individuals were caught illegally connecting toilet waste to roadside drainage channels, leading to immediate corrective measures, Mrs. Alem reported.
Emphasizing that safeguarding shared road assets is the collective responsibility of all community members, the team leader urged the public to play their part by calling the toll-free hotline 8267 to submit comments and report infrastructure-related violations.
