Filwoha–Old Kera–Wudassie Junction and Olma Garage–Post Office Road Projects Fully Completed and Opened to Traffic
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2026 (AACRA): The road construction projects connecting Filwoha to Old Kera–Wudassie Junction and Olma Garage to the Post Office have been fully completed and officially opened to traffic.
According to Engineer Biniyam Alemayehu, Manager of the Northern Road Construction Project Office at the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority, the combined road projects span a total length of 1.42 kilometers with varying road widths.
The primary segment, extending from Filwoha Gate to the Old Kera–Wudassie Junction, covers 1.08 kilometers with a overall width ranging from 25 to 30 meters, including dedicated pedestrian walkways.
Explaining the secondary segment, Engineer Biniyam noted that the Olma Garage to Post Office road project spans 340 meters in length and 30 meters in width. This link provides a short bypass connecting the newly constructed road section from Old Kera toward Filwoha directly to Churchill Avenue.
The project manager highlighted that the original road did not exceed 7 meters in width and completely lacked pedestrian walkways. In contrast, the newly upgraded infrastructure now features expanded lanes for motor vehicles, dedicated pedestrian pathways, bicycle lanes, and integrated green areas.
The completion of this project is set to significantly streamline traffic flow in the area, offering a crucial shortcut and alternative route for motorists traveling from Filwoha toward Piazza and Arat Kilo.
Furthermore, beyond transforming the local aesthetic, the project creates a safer and more convenient environment for residents and visitors to Friendship Park.
