Road Maintenance Work Underway Across Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa — September 14, 2019 E.C. Following the end of the rainy season, extensive road maintenance works are underway in various parts of Addis Ababa.
With the Meskel and Irreecha festivals approaching, when large numbers of people gather in public spaces, the city is giving priority to roads that require urgent maintenance. Areas in need of immediate repair have been identified, and corrective works are being carried out accordingly.
Recent asphalt road maintenance works have been carried out in Legehar, World Bank, the Bole Michael–Gorgorios Square area, the road from Wingate to Asko, Figa Traffic Light, the route from Jemo Three to Jemo One, Filwuha, the Megenagna–Kotebe route, and the road from German Square to Jemo Three.
The maintenance activities will continue in other parts of the city. Roads requiring repairs will be identified based on their condition, with works ranging from routine maintenance to major rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The ongoing efforts are aimed at improving the city’s road network, maintaining road quality, and ensuring safer and smoother movement for residents and road users.
