Concrete Casting Underway for Box Culvert Under Construction Near Lafto Hospital

To proactively prevent flood hazards, the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority has been executing urgent box culvert construction near Lafto Hospital since July 11, 2026 (Hamle 4, 2018 E.C.). For this purpose, the road leading from Jemo 1 Traffic Light to Jemo 3 Roundabout was temporarily closed to traffic for 15 consecutive days.

Currently, foundation placement, rebar structural assembly, and concrete casting works are actively underway, with all-out efforts focused on completing the remaining tasks quickly to reopen the road to traffic.

Because curing the concrete structure requires a necessary waiting period to achieve full strength, the Authority urges road users to maintain the patience and cooperation they have demonstrated so far.
