2026 "Green Legacy" Program Held
Under the theme "Planting Hope," the leadership and staff of the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority conducted a tree-planting program along the roadside from Ayat Square to Tafo.
The Authority's Director General, Engineer Muhdin Reshad, stated that beyond increasing the city's road coverage, the institution is fulfilling its social responsibility by engaging in various volunteer services. As part of this year's winter volunteer service under the Green Legacy Initiative, the leadership and staff will participate by planting over 10,000 seedlings. In addition to annual tree planting, he recalled successful past volunteer efforts—including seedling care, housing construction for the underprivileged, child support, food sharing, and blood donation—and noted that similar services are underway this year.
The Authority's Deputy Director General of Engineering Operations, Engineer Takele Lulena, highlighted that employees actively participate in the annual Green Legacy initiative, noting that work is being done to create an even more beautiful city image by integrating road infrastructure with green vegetation cover.
Program coordinator Engineer Enyew Lemma added that a total of 10,380 indigenous seedlings will be planted across various locations during this Green Legacy program with the participation of Authority employees.
